M01: Waterloo

Hamish MooreThree Scottish pipe marches. The first two came from a recording by the Perthshire smallpiper Hamish Moore (pictured left), while The Sands of Loch Bee has become a popular session tune. The composer, Pipe Major John MacDonald, was born in South Uist in 1898, and became a hugely respected player, composer and leader of the Glasgow Police Pipe Band. The Sands of Loch Bee is also known as Glasgow Police March Past. Loch Bee itself is an inland loch in South Uist with a causeway through the middle.
