I was asked its name recently but names are not my strong point.

Sounds Irish to me, but maybe not.

John, I think that track may have been set to ~ Private

And, thanks to a note in TheSession's page on this tune, I now know where the tune for "Arthur McBride" came from.

Mmm. Which version of Arthur McBride?      

It sounds slightly like an Up tempo version I know but not quite. However, the lyrics would fit in easily around this melody too.

I see that it's also known as "The Blackthorn Stick" by pipers but it's not really like the BS I know.

Nice tune, but agree with JAJ, no resemblance to either Arthur McBride or BS as I know them, other than the time signature!
