  Spootiskerry

Spootiskerry is a modern composition by Ian Burns. The title is the name of his family croft near the town of Sullom in the north west of the Shetland islands. It was originally spelt "Spootskerry", but over the years an i, or an a or an o has been added. Spootiskerry was Ian Burns's first tune, and it has become extrememly popular throughout the world. In Scottish sessions it's mostly coupled with another Shetland reel, Willafjord.
