Cawdor Fair
Cawdor Fair |
Other names for this old Scottish tune have included Calder Fair, Cock o' Bendy, Cockabendie, Go on Lads and Give a Tune, and The Hawthorne Tree of Cawdor. However, the incarnation that most people will know is the nursery rhyme Sing a Song of Sixpence. In Scotland it is mainly played as a "schottische" (a polka-like dance which uses tunes similar to strathspeys). Cawdor is in Invernessshire.
