The Railway Porter

The Railway Porter
This set is part of the following collections:

Music

Although there were railways in Scotland before, most of them were used to transport coal and other raw materials. One of the earliest passenger lines was Glasgow Townhead to Garnkirk, which opened on the 27th September 1837.

In 1842 the Edinburgh and Glasgow line opened and the popularity of the railways was becoming something of a sensation.

This set is part of my Scottish Collection of tunes; for others, check out the Scottish Collection Index
