Johann Pachelbel (1653-1706) was a German composer, and although he was extremely prolific in his work, he is best known for one composition, his Canon in D, a hugely influential piece, said to have inspired such diverse songs as Go West (Pet Shop Boys), I Should Be So Lucky (Kylie Minogue), Streets of London (Ralph McTell) and Don’t Look Back in Anger (Oasis).
