Mixter Maxter

Mixter Maxter Mixed Instrument Workshop

Mixter Maxter - a Scots expression meaning "topsy-turvey" or "all mixed up" - combines high quality music with an introduction to the joy of playing with other people. A day of mixed instrument workshops where the group learns some tunes and collaborates to arrange them in an interesting and attractive way. Suitable for most instruments, and most temperaments; everybody gets a lot out of it.

Watch this page to keep an eye out for the next scheduled Mixter Maxter, or send me an email and I'll let you know when plans are confirmed and booking opens.

Mixter Maxter 5

Mixter Maxter moves around; we've been in North Fife, East Lothian, Peebles, Cardrona and just outside Glasgow. All that is required is a good hall and someone local for liaison. If you would like Mixter Maxter to come to your area, get in touch, and we can talk about it. Mixter Maxter 15 is on Saturday 23rd March 2020 in Carlops (further details).

Music is always available beforehand in the shape of downloadable PDF documents and MP3 soundfiles. If you require notation in any particular format (e.g. whistle, tablature, cello, fiddle fingering, etc), that can be arranged if you let me know beforehand. I choose the music quite carefully with the needs of the participants in mind. To get an idea of the sort of music we do, have a look at some previous workshops (see links below).
