The Bill Stewart Band

Scottish country dance band

bstew.jpg - 14Kb

The Bill Stewart Band were based in Kinross, Perthshire during the mid 1950s until the 1960s. The line-up was Jim Sneddon (drums), Douglas Campbell (accordion), Bill Stewart (accordion), and Georgina Sneddon (piano). The band broke up in 1963 when Bill joined the Fife police. Jim (Georgina's brother) went on to play in a number of dance bands but has now retired from the scene. Douglas Campbell died several years ago. Bill and Georgina got married and they have lived in Kirkcaldy for many years now. Bill formed a new Bill Stewart Band (see photo below) and played all over Scotland and the North of England, and finally retired in 2004. Bill still occasionally plays at charity functions.
