Desperate Danz Band

Popular raucous electric dance band active in Aberdeen during the 1980s. They were John Carnie (guitars), Dave Francis (guitars, mandolin), Ron Grant (bass), Louise Mackenzie (fiddle), Lynn O'Shay (flute), and Stuart Ritchie (drums). Dave later lived in Edinburgh and teamed up with his wife, fiddler Mairi Campbell, to perform as The Cast, and played with the Bella McNab Dance Band. John played solo gigs and collaborations with many stellar musicians, and published an influential book of Scottish guitar in 2012. Louise became a well respected fiddle tutor and several of her compositions are played throughout Scotland. Stuart continued to play drums and (I think) lives in France.

Any more information about the group would be gratefully received (email me).
