A duo about which I know almost nothing. I received an email from David Logan, however:
I remember Andy and John when they
played round the tourist circuit in the
late 70s. I saw him regularly at the
"Mercury Motor Inn" in Ullapool and
gigged with him at the "Cambusnethan
Priory" in Wishaw about 1980. I dont
know much about John, but Andy lived in
Slamannan near Falkirk. I was quite
friendly with him for a while. Andy
tended to dress in Tartan for his gigs
and played pipes, mandolin, guitar,
bodhran and Tenor Banjo, in fact, the
first tenor banjo I ever played was
Andy's. Andy used to travel to gigs in
a Reliant Regal Supervan III! - 3
wheeled car.
Other sources report that John MacPhail was living in Fort William
during the mid 1980s, and performed solo at various hotels in the area.
