72nd's Farewell to Aberdeen
72nd's Farewell to Aberdeen |
This is a nice example of the Scottish 2/4 pipe march. The original name of the tune was The Boy's Lament for his Dragon, composed by William Mackay. The "dragon" was a kite, apparently, and it possibly has a connection to the German word Drachen, which refers to both a kite and a dragon (thanks to Jack Campin and Anselm Lignau for this information.
