This tune is marked "very old" in The Skye Collection of 1887.
Its Gaelic title is Chuir I Glùn Air a Bhodach, which roughly
translates as "She put her knee on the old man". My version came
from fiddler Derek Hoy, although the tune has increased in popularity in
sessions in Glasgow and Edinburgh of late. A recent development is the
playing of the tune as a Strathspey, and then as a reel immediately
afterwards, although Derek does not think the tune suits this.
