Pipe Major William Laurie died during the first world war, not long after composing his best known tune The Battle of the Somme. I learned The Boy's Lament for his Dragon from a Jimmy Shand recording. It is also known as The 72nd Highlanders Farewell to Aberdeen.

This set and other Scottish session tunes can be found in The Scottish Slow Session Volume 1, available from my Online Store.
