There is a certain amount of mystery surrounding this tune. Some people say it's American, some people say it was composed by piper Donald MacPhee, and I've even seen it attributed to Pipe Major Donald MacLeod. I've also read that it was published in the 1870s under the title Yankee. Whatever the truth is, it has been a popular tune with dance bands and pipe bands in Scotland for some time.
