Barren Rocks of Aden with The 79th's Farewell to Gibralter
Aden, a port city in Yemen, was administrated by Britain from 1839 until 1967 when it gained independence. Although there is some dispute about the authorship of the Barren Rocks of Aden, Alexander McKellar (1824-1895) insisted that every note was his own. The 79th's Farewell to Gibralter was composed by Pipe Major John MacDonald of Tiree (1824-1884).
The Barren Rocks of Aden is also available paired with The Thistle of Scotland.
This set and other tunes played at Scottish sessions can be found in The Scottish Slow Session Volume 1, available from my Online Store.
