“One of the oldest tunes we have. It has strong Norse links and follows a characteristic Scandinavian pattern. The tune was used to welcome in New Year's Day and/or Old Yule, and was played by the fiddler in the village who would go from house to house in the morning. It was also used in Papa Stour to lead the dancers of the Papa Stour Sword Dance onto the floor.”
- Tom Anderson, Shetland fiddler and collector of fiddle tunes
