Set 47: Doon the Burn
Doun the Burn, Davie

Doun the Burn, Davie

This set is part of the following collections:

Music

"Burns says, speaking of this air, "I have been informed that [this] tune...was the composition of David Maigh, keeper of the blood slough hounds belonging to the laird of Riddell, in Tweeddale." This must be a mistake, as the tune, note for note, appears in the Orpheus Caledonius. The second set was composed by James Hook, father of the late Theodore Hook." [Hamilton’s Universal Tunebook 1844]

This set and other Scottish session tunes can be found in The Scottish Slow Session Volume 3, available from my Online Store.
