The composer of this tune, Charlie Hunter (1902-1970) was a radio officer for Caledonian MacBrayne ferries. Originally from Aberdeenshire, he worked the Oban to Barra route for 33 years. He was also a fiddler and composer, and The Hills of Lorne is one of his best-known pieces.
