Composed by James Scott Skinner. The Iron Man was William McHardy of Forgue, who was an iron magnate. Skinner composed one of his most famous tunes for McHardy - The Laird o' Drumblair - as well as The Iron Man. In addition, McHardy made a cottage available to Skinner, rent free, which was the subject of his tune The Bungalow.
