Music

This is a very old tune, and can be found as Lady Cassilles Lilt in the Skene Manuscript (1620). The ballad Johnny Faa tells of the gypsy king eloping with the Earl of Cassillis' Lady, and influenced other folksongs and ballads still popular today. The air was used for a 19th century song, Wae's Me for Chairlie.
