Bemersyde is a house near Melrose dating back to the 16th century. It was bought by the Government in 1921 and given to Field-Marshal Earl Haig (1861-1928). This tune, composed by James Scott Skinner, was dedicated to Earl Haig, The "Laird o' Bemersyde".
