Dougie MacLean was born in Perthshire, where he still lives. His early music career was in folk groups - Puddocks Well (with Andy M Stewart, later of Silly Wizard) and The Tannahill Weavers - before he concentrated on his solo work. His most well known song is Caledonia, but he is also a skilled fiddler and composer of tunes.
