The Sound of Sleat was composed by Donald MacKinnon of Skye. He was Pipe Major with the King's own Scottish Borderers (the "KOSBies"), and later emigrated to Australia. The Sound of Sleat is the stretch of water between the mainland and the Sleat peninsula on Skye.
