The earliest known recording of this tune was in 1929 by Alexander Campbell Robertson (1887-1975), known as Eck Robertson. He was a Texas fiddler, and recorded some 16 sides during the 1920s. He was recorded again in 1963 by members of The New Lost City Ramblers group.
