The producers of the 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany's were not keen to put the song Moon River into the final movie, but actress Audrey Hepburn said "Over my dead body," insisting that it be kept. The song melody was composed by Henry Mancini, with lyrics by Johnny Mercer. Soon afterwards it became an enduring hit for singer Andy Williams.
