Country Gardens is a tune from the English Morris tradition, collected by Cecil Sharp from the traditional musician William Kimber in 1906. In the early 1960s it was made into a song, English Country Garden, and reached No.5 in the UK charts.

The lyrics of Lord of the Dance were written by Sydney Carter in 1963, to the tune of a Shaker hymn - Simple Gifts - attributed to Joseph Brackett in 1848.
