Princess Royal (Fieldtown) with The Nutting Girl
Princess Royal (7 Springs)

The Princess Royal is a very popular tune in England, and some people attribute it to the Irish harper Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738), while others disagree. Whatever its origins, it's a great tune. The Fieldtown setting came from Cecil Sharp's collections of Morris dance tunes. The 7 Springs setting is taken from the playing of English fiddler and mandolinist Dave Swarbrick (1941-2016), from his 1978 album 'Lift the Lid and Listen'.
