Charlie Hunter is a popular jig written by accordionist Bobby MacLeod. Hunter was a radio officer and sailed with MacBrayne's ferries on the Oban to Barra run for 33 years. He often played fiddle on the ferries to the delight of passengers. He founded the Oban and Lorne Strathspey & Reel Society in 1944.

Sally Hunter of Thurston was composed by Nathaniel Gow (1763-1831), the third son of legendary fiddler Niel Gow. The Hunter family lived at Thurston Manor in East Lothian.
