Because of poor harvests, the making of whisky was prohibited in 1799, inspiring Niel Gow to write his famous lament Farewell to Whisky. The setting here is a dance version, popular in ireland. It wasn't long before whisky was back on the menu, prompting the venerable Gow to composed a brighter tune, Whisky Welcome Back Again.
