Set 43: Mrs Crawford
Mrs Crawford's Favourite/Money in Both Pockets

Mrs Crawford's Favourite

This set is part of the following collections:
Music

Mrs Crawford's Favourite was the name given to the tune by the Gow family in 1800, but it had been published ten years earlier by its composer Robert Petrie as Forneth House Strathspey. I learned this version from Bob Massie, and is based upon the way Cape Breton fiddlers play it.

Money in Both Pockets was known in Scotland during the 18th century, and in Ireland from around the turn of the 20th century.

This set and other Scottish session tunes can be found in The Scottish Slow Session Volume 3, available from my Online Store.
