The Txankarrenku - "Dance of the Victor" - is part of a suite of dances known as Ezpatza-Dantza consisting of several melodies and varied choreography. I transcribed it from a 1956 LP by Juan Onatibia, who played the txistu and tun-tun - a basque flute and drum played by the same person, rather like the English pipe and tabor. The third tune here - Ezpata-Dantza - is part of the same suite, this melody made up of alternative 3/4 and 6/8 bars.
I got Urnietako Doinnu from an album by the Basque group Alboka. It’s a traditional tune from Urnieta, a town in the province of Gipuzkoa.
