How to Read Whistle Notation

All the whistle tunes on this site are for a D whistle; the lowest note you can play is low D, all holes covered. Learn the names of the notes up the D scale.

Notes in the upper octave are achieved by using the same fingering as the lower octave, but blowing a little harder. Experience will show you the subtle different in the amount of breath needed to change a note up or down an octave.

Notes in the upper octave are indicated by a dot above the note name. High F sharp, for example would look like this:
