Music

10th May 1869: Two railroads, the Union Pacific and the Central Pacific, were in a crazy race to become the first company to join the Eastern and Western United States. In 1868, President U. S. Grant told them to stop their nonsense and both lines must meet. On the 10th May 1869, to huge ceremony and publicity, a golden spike was hammered into the final sleeper, and all over the nation, Americans cheered. This tune was composed by Brian McNeill.
