I learned this tune as Dermot Grogan's Hornpipe from the CD 'Buzzin' by The Bumblebees. It's a lovely, lazy kind of hornpipe - not because it's easy to play, but because it moves up and down arpeggios with apparent effortlessness, and it makes you want to play it over and over again. I was originally told that this tune was composed by the late Dermot Grogan from Co. Mayo, but this is not the case. The tune was composed by Owen Hackett in the early 1960s as a four-part tune, and called The Echoing Strings. It's a great tune and has long been a favourite of mine.
