Wally Dugs, The
The Wally Dugs, from Dundee, were Pat Finnegan (guitar, 5 string
banjo, voclas), George Getty (guitar, mandolin, whistle, bagpipes,
vocals) and Neil McLeod (guitar, voclas). They were active in the
late 1970s, and recorded an LP, The Road to Dundee, in 1987.
Watson, Marshall
An insurance inspector in Arbroath, Marshall was the president of
the Abbey Folk Club in 1969.
Wasteband, The
Formed in 1978, the Wasteband consisted of Tony Ireland (vocals, guitars, dulcimer, tenor banjo, keyboards, percussion) and Dougie Petrie (vocals, guitars, mandolin, whistle, mouthorgan, percussion). They released one album that I know about, 'The Twa Corbies' (Peak Records (1982).
Wee Willum
Edinburgh-based band, precursors of Jock Tamson's Bairns. Line up changed over time, but it included Allan Johnston, Rod Paterson, Ian Hardie, Norman Chalmers, Peter McClements, Derek Hoy and John Croall.

Whistledown
Perthsire-based outfit who started playing in the mid-1980s. The group
consisted of Neil Campbell (guitar, banjo,
vocals), John Slaven (fiddle, mandolin), Roddy Ross (vocals,
whistle, bagpipes, bass), Bruce Hope (vocals, mandolin, bass) and
Kenny Johnston (guitar, vocals). They released a
cassette, "The Ale Is Dear" (Whistledown Sounds WD1, 1989). Now,
in 2006, the band are still on the go with Ross, Campbell, Hope and
Neil's daughter Fiona Campbell on vocals and fiddle, and they have
just recorded a new CD.
Waverleys, The
The line-up of this Glenrothes group in 1971 was
Martin Gibney, Brian Duffin, Roy Bain (5-string banjo) and John "Shony" Berwick (harmonica, bodhran, vocals). At some point Mike Dow (guitar, vocals) joined the group, and they backed Matt McGinn on his live album at the Police Club in Edinburgh, hosted by Ian Green.
Woodlanders, The
In 1971, the resident group at The Woodlands Folk Club in Dundee.
Members were Alun Jones, Carol Couper and Ted Clark (Carol and Ted sang as Ted and Carol and were also a resident actat the Woodlands Folk Club, along with Gus Foy and Mike Marra).
Ted was an original member of the Island Folk along with
Bob and Vi Clark, and when The Woodlanders split up, The Island Folk
renamed themselves...The Woodlanders!
